Communicable Disease
A communicable or contagious disease is one that is transmissible by contact with infected individuals through bodily fluids such as respiratory droplets, blood, or semen. A contagious disease may also be spread by contact with contaminated surfaces. The terms communicable and contagious disease are often used interchangeably.
Controlling the spread of disease is at the heart of much public health work. Outbreaks of infectious diseases can have an extraordinary impact on human health.
